Have you thought about giving your students end of the year awards while distance learning? If so, here are three ways that you can present your students with awards without being physically in the classroom.
End of the Year Awards
My favorite awards to give out are these Emoji End of the Year Awards. They’re editable and now…they are digital, too!

If you already own these awards, you can download them again wherever you purchased (my website or TpT) to get your new digital copy!
Should I still give out awards even though we are distance learning?
Why not?! Even if your school has been unable to really implement distance learning, (I know this varies greatly across school districts and states), you can still give them an award based on the time they were physically in your class.
Who doesn’t mind a little recognition? Besides, with the current quarantine, who couldn’t use a pick-me-up?!
How about hosting a Zoom “awards ceremony” and “presenting” awards for your class?
Even if you can’t do that, getting an award without a ceremony will still put a smile on your student’s face. I’d call that a win!
3 Ways to Give End of the Year Awards While Distance Learning
Today I’ll be sharing 3 ways to give end of the year awards while distance learning. I’m going to include Loom tutorial videos for each method too, just in case you prefer to watch over read!

1. Send the Award via Google Slides
I’ve updated the Editable End of the Year Emoji Awards to include a Google Slidesโข๏ธ version! The fonts are a tiny bit different, (thanks but thanks, Google fonts๐), but they’re still really cute and colorful!
To send or share the award via Google Slides, just download the file again wherever you purchased (my website or TpT) and then click the link in the PDF, (it will say “digital” in the title), to open the new digital Google Slidesโข๏ธ copy.
Fill in the information just like before: Student name, date, your name.
Highlight/select the slide you want to send.
Go to file > make a copy > selected slides.
Rename that new slide with the single award, using the student’s name.
You can now easily share or send the award via Gmail, Google Drive, or Google Classroom!
2. Send an Image or PDF of the Award
Once you have an image file (PNG or JPEG) or a PDF of the award, there are so many ways that you can share the files with your students!
First things first, you need to edit the awards and then save them as PNG or PDF files. Here’s a video tutorial on how to do that!
Open up the PowerPoint file that includes colored clipart since we won’t be printing these awards.
Fill in the information just like before: Student name, date, your name.
For an image file, go to File > export > export as PNG > save all slides.
Make sure your pixels are set high (2000+) so that your awards look crisp and clear!
You can rename each image/award after your student so that each is award is easy to find and share.
For a PDF file, go to File > print > selected slide > choose “print” in the bottom left corner.
Rename the file (if you choose) and click save.
Now that you have PNGs or PDFs of the awards, you can share the files via:
- remind
- school website
- Google Drive/Classroom or
- anywhere/way else you send a picture or PDF file!
3. Print Out & Mail the Award
I mean who doesn’t love getting mail? I know I excitedly check my porch each day to see what has arrived (and hide it from my husband, HAHA).
How excited would your students be if they got mail from their teacher?๐ฌ๐๐ Especially if the mail was as colorful and cheery as this?! ๐๐ผ

And then on top of that…it’s a super fun emoji award that they can show off to their family! ๐๐ป
I guess this one doesn’t need a video…but whether you edit your awards in PowerPoint or in Google Slidesโข๏ธ, you can always print hard copies of the awards and mail them to your students.
I just know they will be so glad that you did. ๐ Especially if they haven’t been able to communicate with you since schools were closed.
If you’re hesitant to print awards for all of your students in color because of the cost of ink, be sure to check out this teacher hack where I explain how I print EVERYTHING in color while on a budget!
