It can be played with 1 or more students, but I recommend using it at a small group or center.
Here’s what’s included:
- Directions
- Monkey Sound Mats (A beginning sound picture for each vowel: a, e, i, o u)
- 80 banana cards (pictures with CVC words; 16 for each vowel)
- Picture cards cheat sheet: I’ve included the “names” of all of the CVC picture cards so this game can be played with guest teachers and/or volunteers.
- BONUS: Monkey sound mats with letters (Although this is NOT phonemic awareness, I’ve added monkey sound mats with each of the vowel letters so that students can replay the game once they’ve learned letter-sound correspondence.)
This is a low prep activity! Light gray cutting lines are provided so that no extra trimming is required. If you cut on the light gray lines with a paper cutter, all the game pieces will be even!
There are multiple ways to play the game, so it can easily be adjusted to fit your students’ needs.
This game can be easily stored in a gallon sized ziplock bag.
