About the Passages
Complexity
These passages use sight words and pictures to create predictable text for the earliest readers.
Tracking
Pointing/tracking dots are included under each word/picture to promote one-to-one correspondence.
Fluency
Students are encouraged to read the passage three times to build fluency. Students color a “happy face” at the bottom of the page each time they read. Students read the passage three times before completing the comprehension component.
Comprehension
Each passage includes TWO reading comprehension questions.
Student-Friendly Graphics
Each passage includes appropriate graphics (clip art).
